How Compensation Works

Our system motivates workers to be more efficient while keeping your production predictable.

• Each part has an expected time to complete (based on averages across skilled workers).

• Contractors are paid their base hourly rate × the expected time, no matter how fast they finish.

• If multiple machines run simultaneously, pay is multiplied across them — meaning more output for you, faster.

Example:

• A part is expected to take 2 hours. Base pay is $26.50/hr. Worker finishes in 1 hour. You receive the part in 1 hour, but the worker still earns $53.00.

• Two orders run on two machines at once, each expected at 2 hours (4 total). Worker finishes in 2 hours. You receive both orders in 2 hours, but the worker is still compensated for 4 hours = $106.00.

Tavian was founded by Zakery Karnes, who grew up in a family-owned metal stamping business. Zak saw firsthand how skilled workers often struggled to earn beyond a baseline wage, while large companies controlled the flow of orders and dictated low pay.

Tavian was created to flip that model — to empower skilled tradesmen while giving manufacturers a faster, more reliable labor solution. Instead of unions that lower standards and reward mediocrity, Tavian builds a network of elite independent contractors motivated to outperform.
